Auto-assign categories across your catalogue
FeedArc maps each product to the right google_product_category automatically and fills the category’s required attributes at import — so missing or wrong categories never turn into Merchant Center disapprovals.
The google_product_category attribute tells Google Shopping which slot of its own taxonomy a product belongs to. Choosing the most specific accurate category — and supplying that category’s required attributes — keeps items eligible and helps them surface for the right queries. You can provide the numeric ID or the full path; both are accepted, one value per product.

It is the Google Shopping feed attribute that places your product in Google’s own product taxonomy. You can supply either the numeric category ID (e.g. 187) or the full category path (e.g. "Apparel & Accessories > Shoes"). Google uses it to understand what you sell and to apply category-specific requirements — for some categories it is required.
Either is accepted. The numeric ID is the most robust because it never breaks when Google renames a category label; the full path is more human-readable in your spreadsheet. This tool gives you both — copy whichever your feed setup prefers. Use exactly one value per product.
Some categories carry mandatory attributes (for example apparel needs gender, age group, size, and colour). If your google_product_category implies requirements your feed does not meet — or the category is missing entirely where required — Merchant Center disapproves the item. Picking the most specific accurate category, then supplying its required attributes, avoids that.
